namely Nascar, IRL, AMA, etc. So it was probably the safest track in the region. It was bought by the International Speedway Group and essentially closed down. (politics). It hasn't been used since. It was recently sold again and I assume the new owners must be re-opening it. To my knowledge no one has died there ... at least not from poor track conditions.
